The Writer’s Dilemma in 2026

When Creativity Collides with the Business Side of Being an Author

If you’re reading this, you’ve probably noticed it’s been a while since my last update. The truth? Life as a working writer is a juggling act – and lately, the balls have been flying everywhere. Between my day job and pouring creative energy into Patches, The Bachelor Sage has had to wait its turn more than I’d like to admit.

Here’s the deal: marketing a novel is tough. Doing it solo, without a budget or a team, can feel downright overwhelming. Most people don’t realize that for every hour spent writing, there’s another spent sifting through inquiries, dodging scams, and trying to figure out which opportunities are real and which are just noise. It’s exhausting, and sometimes it feels like I’m shouting into the void, unsure who’s really listening.

I’ll be honest—there are days when motivation is hard to find. The “selling” part of being a writer isn’t what I signed up for. I’d much rather be building worlds and characters than tracking down algorithms or fighting off spam. But as 2026 gets rolling, I’m making a promise to myself (and to you): I’m recommitting to this journey and reengaging with the small but mighty community that’s grown around The Bachelor Sage over the past six months.

Thank you for sticking with me. Your support is what keeps this story alive. Here’s to new chapters—on the page, and in this little corner of the internet.
